2007 : so long so long so long . and thanks for all the booze

I present this entry as a tribute to those who continued visiting my page in a futile hope for a new entry.

The clock struck 12; the sky went gaga with crackers and the new year sneaked into our lives. Can't call 2007 one of the best years of my life but the year was fun enough. let me summarize the events that 2007 brought into my life.

The year began on a bad note with a hangover . Thanks to the new year bash.. Finances remained stable through the year ( thank god for that ). had a big birthday bash with a truckload of colleagues kicking me to the otherwise oblivious boundaries of pain. Visited North India in March going about places where I once lived. Walking down the memory lane was a delightful experience. Got loaded with work at workplace, handling multiple responsibilities and received tons of appreciation in return packed in words like " Incompetent ass" , " Arrogant Bastard" and "Moron" etc. Lost a few relatives to death. Some of them were actually close to me. Partied whenever i could. Drank responsibly on most occasions. Yearned for someone... Met a few friends who I hadn't seen in a decade. Watched many of my classmates getting married. Spent 18000 INR on books. Said goodbye to a room mate. lived alone for six months. Got another room mate. got a TV. Commited a few good deeds which i do not want to discuss and a host of bad deeds which are not worth discussing.Tried to be happy when I could. Didn't shy away from feeling sad when the situation deemed so. Year 2007 was a mixed bag.... Not so great to cherish.. not too bad to forget..... Au revoir..

Playing the Teacher

God only knows what persuaded me to take up a part time job with Accel guys. It was the craziest thing I had ever done. Can you believe it chaps??? I playing the TEACHER.. welll .. I still don't ! Alas... Tis true. I remember having tortured a whole era of preceptors with " out of the world" doubts and impossibly infuriating gimmics. All those hours of "Maam... I have a doubt " and " Hey Srivathsan.. Why don't you do us all a favour and get out" will ever remain an enthralling memory. I confess... I don't remember ever having submitted a piece of homework. Well.. the story today...
If I enter the class at 1830 hrs one can understand beyond all doubt that students have been there for the past 45 mins revising the contents of previous day's class. I don't shout or tell anyone to get out for any reason. Yet, my entry results in pin drop silence. I can't figure it out. Are the students trying to respect me? Or perhaps they find me really intimidating ? : .. well . beats me... The class proceeds for the best part of 2 hours and then the students proceed to the lab dutifully without me having to use my skills of persuasion. Another hour passes amidst the sounds of clicking keyboards. I make another entry, declaring that it's time we call it a day. Thats just about it. Everyone rushes out ( without any commotion of course ) wearing an expression of " freedom at last " on the face. Sometimes, A student presents himself to me imploring me to grant him a day's leave of absence( funny . I never did that.. despite loads of official warnings ). He says, " Sir !! ahem .. well .. err.. if you permit.. I request you to grant me leave for tomorrow. The reason being blah blah blah ....". I say, " well .. please contact the technical head and bring me a note stating his approval in writing". Now... I know most of friends would be infuriated beyond all limits at this point. Painful memories of staff reasoning the " Importance of attendence " aspect with me will begin to swarm their minds.

Isn't it crazy. I was summoned by the manager today. He proceeded to felicitate me. he said, " Sri... I just met so n so student of yours...and he says ... you are a wonderful lecturer.. Also he was happy about my capability to maintain order n discipline without having to TRY TOO HARD". God only knows how I felt. Eighteen years of education rolled by my eyes that very moment reminding me of every act of torture I unleashed on my teachers. Crazy are the ways of providence. Babble more laterz

lost in the RTL code

Its kinda amusing to observe that I chose to pursue further studies in the field of Integrated chip design. As I remember, I hated every single academic moment in college( Did B.E in Electronics). Kept running away from the web of electrons all these years only to realize there's where I belong. Strange are the ways of life. Anyways, i am finally beginning to understand the concepts which I chose to ignore during college days. Who, in the name of devil would have even imagined that :|. I just wish that my college lecturers get a chance to observe my daily iterenary. They sure would be proud( at least astounded). Hail Logic... Hail Binary number system...

Etiquette to dress

Hey all. Many of you might have heard abt "Ban on casual attire" in Engineering colleges of Tamilnadu imposed by Anna University. The reasons sited were pretty usual.
1. Not professional to wear casual attire at college.
2. Against INDIAN culture.
3. (The most controversial) Guys may get distracted from the class and pay more attention to a gal's attire (and anatomy).

I am surprised that folks running one of the most prestigious Technological unversities of India act so ridiculously stupid. I wonder whats professional about attire? how does the dress impress the idea upon others that you are a PROFESSIONAL? Grow up fellas... We are living in 2005.
Indian Culture ? I think if we follow indian culture .... then kiss your pants, shirts, T shirts , vests and underwears goodbye. NOne are in accordance with traditional Indian culture. Also I would like to impose upon those gentlemen. There is no such thing called the INDIAN CULTURE. Our culture is a mixed bag of all the traits inherited from conquerers and Plunderers who raided India for the past 2 millenia. Believe it or not . thats the truth.

Lastly.. If a guy gets attracted towards a gal due to a "revealing" dress she's wearing, Its his fault. The dirt is rite there in his mind. It isn't a girl's anatomy but the perverse thought in your mind that causes the distraction. i just hope that our so called champions of INDIAN culture grow up and highlight the genuinely good features of our ancient yet proud culture and dont use it as a tool for their political orgasms.

MOral of the story : why blame the garbage when tis you who stink the worst

The network follows Indeed

I never took Hutch seriously. I became a subscriber of Hutch " just for the heck of it". But Ladies and gentlemen... Hutch seriously followed me. As you may be aware... It's been seven months since I started searching for a "relevant" job. Success has eluded me till date. Last friday I got a phonecall. A lady declared," Good evening.. We are calling from Hutch. Would you be interested in joining our organization as a Engineer trainee? " I was dumbstruck!!!! Now .. How in the name of sweet devil did they actually know that i needed a job ?!~ I was called for an interview yesterday. Za Lokation : Mount Road.. Where else ? I was slowly driving from Gemini Flyover to LIC ( Life Insurance Corporation.. Not Linear Integrated circuits). The place where I needed to go was just a stone throw's distance from LIC. Just as I crossed Spencer's , The GODDAMN police diverted the traffic for some stoooopid reason. sigh .. had to drive 8 damn extra kms to get there. Finally when I reached... the dude at the security desk told me.." There are no interviews scheduled today for the post that you mention". I was annoyed... had to make 15 calls to clarify what the hell was goin on. Then I was allowed inside.

Was interviewed by two dudes. Senior folks from the Switching management division. "Grilled like a Chicken" with questions regarding What I know abt telecom and mobile telecom ! An hour later, The guys smiled and told me..well ...seems you have done your homework well.. Please go to TTK road Hutch office right away . There I waited for 2 hours .. went out 5 times to smoke... had a word with the "drop dead gorgeous" receptionist couple of times. In the end... A chap came out telling me that I was to have another interview this weekend. If I could get thru it.. I was in. Sigh !!! So the idiots made me wait just to tell me this.. anyways .. came out, went home .. took a cold shower.. smoked a cigarette , went out again .. had a beer.. and finally the day was over.. like every other day... But something happened.. Something that told me that life would never be same again without HUTCH. I still dont have the slightest idea.. where the hell did they get my info? Why did they call me for an interview... and that too for a kind of job that I would love to have... I guess, Ladies and gentlemen! Moral of the story : Wherever you go.. the network follows
